The 9th Show

The 9th Show is Putnam Valley High School's very own student lead and student produced news program. With episodes released approximately every two weeks, the dedicated team of students in the Media Production class, give you all the details about what's happening in your school community.

Color Wars

Color Wars is a team-building and competitive activity organized by the student government every year. Each grade level chooses their own color for their time at PVHS. Every grade level picks teams for each activity and then competes against each other in various physical and mental challenges. The aim of Color Wars at Putnam Valley High School is to encourage students to work together, build team spirit, and have fun. It also helps to develop important life skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and sportsmanship. The winning team is awarded the Color Wars trophy in recognition for their effort and contribution to the event.

During the pandemic we began live streaming Color Wars: with physical restrictions in place we could not have the entire student body in the gym. Color Wars then evolved into a televised broadcast, complete with creative commercial breaks, hosts and live commentary.  Today we continue live streaming Color Wars because alumni and the community at large enjoy watching our live-streamed broadcast. The broadcast also provides students with the opportunity of learning how a live television event works. Students get to use our state of the art Tricaster and cameras with NDI technology.
