Mr. Reale was a teacher for over 30 years at Putnam Valley and a very important member of our community. It was under Frank’s leadership that Putnam Valley began offering film and television classes. Long before the High School was built, Frank started PVTV at the Middle School. He worked tirelessly with students teaching the fundamentals of television and reporting.
When the high school was built, Frank advocated for the building of the original TV Studio, and started the first video production classes at PVHS. Many of his students were so inspired by his teaching that they themselves went on to professional careers in the film and television industry. Essentially, Frank paved the way for us and helped inspire Studio 116’s continuing mission: to educate students on how to effectively use media and technology to communicate complex ideas and how to responsibly tell our stories.
Frank, along with Buck Heller and Pat Cassio, started Peers Influence Peers, an organization whose goal was to assist the youth of America to use their influence with their peers to make positive lifestyle choices. He worked passionately with students from the surrounding communities to create documentaries that helped document and discuss important topics pertaining to our social, emotional and mental health.
What we miss most about Frank is his kindness and his sense of humor. He always had a way of connecting with almost anyone he met. After a conversation with Frank, you always left with a smile and a brighter outlook on the day. His warmth, spirit and creative energy are greatly missed. We hope that we are making him proud and that we will continue to do so.
